How many tourists visit Western Australia each year?

Over 11.72 million tourists traveled to Western Australia in 2024 (year ending December).

Of these, roughly 10.85 million were domestic visitors, which represented a 2% decrease from the 11.07 million domestic visitors recorded in 2023.
International visitors numbered approximately 870,000 in 2024, still about 13% below Western Australia’s 2019 peak of 996,000 international visitors.

Tourists spent A$14.14 billion in Western Australia in the year ending December 2024.

Domestic visitors contributed about A$11.51 billion, which was approximately 5% lower than the domestic spend of A$12.07 billion in 2023.
International visitors spent around A$2.63 billion in 2024, which was about 10% higher than the pre-pandemic peak of A$2.39 billion in 2019.

Spending was down 1.4% when compared with the over $1.97 billion spent during the first quarter of 2020.

Combined, visitors to Western Australia spent a total of $8.7 billion in the year ending June 2020.

Total spending was down 16.3% when compared to the $10.4 billion of the previous year.

This total includes 10.6 million domestic overnight visitors and 973K international visitors.
