How many tourists visit Western Australia each year?

Over 10.1 million travellers visited Western Australia in the year ending June 2020.¹

This total was made up of 747,000 international visitors and over 9.3 million domestic visitors
Visitors to Western Australia decreased by 12.1% when compared with the 11.5 million visitors of 2018/19

For the first quarter of 2021 (January-March), Western Australia received over 2.44 million domestic overnight visitors.

Visitors were up 1% when compared with the over 2.41 million visitors of the first quarter of 2020.

Overnight visitors spent over $1.94 billion during visits to Western Australia for the first quarter of 2021 (January-March).

Spending was down 1.4% when compared with the over $1.97 billion spent during the first quarter of 2020.

International visitors spent an estimated $1.7 billion during trips to Western Australia in the year ending June 2020.¹

International spending was down 26.7% when compared to the $2.23 billion of 2018/19

Domestic visitors spent an estimated $7 billion during trips to Western Australia in the year ending June 2020

Combined, visitors to Western Australia spent a total of $8.7 billion in the year ending June 2020

Total spending was down 16.3% when compared to the $10.4 billion of the previous year

Over 11.5 million tourists and other visitors arrived in Western Australia between July 2018 and June 2019.¹

This total includes 10.6 million domestic overnight visitors and 973K international visitors.

Over 5.7 million tourists and other visitors arrived in Perth between July 2018 and June 2019.
