Driving a Campervan around Valencia
- The V-30 and V-31 ring roads connect the A-3 and A-7 highways. Morning traffic delays occur at river crossings between 07:30 and 09:30.
- Valencia has introduced a Low Emission Zone (ZBE) on a phased basis—check the current phase and rules before driving into the city.
- The AP-7 highway north and south of the city has no tolls.
- Park and ride at Empalme or Bétera stations, then take Metro lines 1 or 2 to Plaça de l'Ajuntament in about twenty minutes.
- Overnight parking on beaches is restricted by Spanish law. Keep awnings stored and stay off the sand to avoid fines.
- Roads through Albufera Natural Park towards El Palmar become narrow (around two metres wide) in several spots. Drive slowly and use passing areas when meeting other vehicles.
- Service areas on the A-3 towards Madrid provide long parking bays, fresh water taps and basic waste disposal points.

Área de autocaravanas is the Spanish term for a designated motorhome parking area. These areas typically provide water supply, waste disposal facilities and charge a nightly fee of approximately €10 to €20.

Is wild camping in a campervan permitted in Spain?
Wild camping (acampada libre) in a campervan is generally not permitted in Spain, and camping rules are set by the autonomous communities and municipalities (not traffic law).
Overnight parking is usually allowed where parking is permitted, as long as the vehicle is correctly parked and you don’t set up outside (awnings, tables, levellers) or discharge fluids. Many towns also offer dedicated motorhome stopover areas (‘áreas de autocaravanas’), which may be free or low-cost.
In addition, there are plenty of campsites. Prices vary by region and season, but many off-peak stays fall in the €13 to €27 per night range.
