Driving a Campervan around Mallorca

• Ferries from Barcelona, Valencia and Dénia carry campervans to Palma. Vehicle passengers and foot passengers board separately, so have your ID/passport and booking confirmation ready at the vehicle lane.
• Mallorca’s main roads are toll-free. The Ma-11 Sóller tunnel has been free since 2017 (check posted height limits before entering).
• Palma’s Low Emission Zone (ZBE) for the city centre entered into force on 22 December 2024. Cameras check number plates against the DGT database, so foreign-registered vehicles must register for a temporary authorisation (up to 6 months) before entering.
• Mountain routes through the Serra de Tramuntana, especially the Ma-10, are narrow with sharp turns and have occasional signed width restrictions in villages.
• Fuel stations are easy to find on main roads like the Ma-13 but are rarer in the Serra de Tramuntana, so fill up your tank before driving into the mountains.
• Overnight camping outside authorised areas is prohibited around Palma. A vehicle is treated as ‘camping’ if you deploy items outside the vehicle perimeter (awnings, tables, levelling supports, etc.), and serious offences can be fined up to €1,500—keep everything packed away if you are simply parking.
• Beach car parks fill early in July and August. If you want to avoid driving/parking, TIB bus routes 302 and 324 connect Can Picafort and Platja de Muro (check seasonal timetables).
