Driving a Campervan around Porto

  • Porto connects to Lisbon via the A1 highway and to Spain’s Galician coast on the A28 highway.
  • Conditional Automobile Access Zones (ZAAC) in parts of the historic centre are controlled via the ZAACPorto system and access is limited to registered/authorised users (for example Cedofeita, Flores, Ribeira and Santa Catarina).
  • Most campervans are classified as toll Class 2 when the front-axle height is over 1.10 metres. Pay with Via Verde electronic system or at card payment lanes.
  • Outside protected areas you may stay up to 48 hours per municipality in a self-contained motorhome. Longer stays or overnight parking in protected nature areas (Natura 2000 zones) may result in fines.
  • Park and Ride sites on the Metro do Porto network offer low-cost daily parking rates that include public transport travel to the city centre.
