Driving a Campervan around Greece

  • Motorways use toll booths or an electronic pass tag. A class 3 camper pays about €30 to travel from Athens to Thessaloniki.
  • The Rio–Antirrio Bridge costs roughly €21 for a motorhome.
  • Wild camping is illegal on public land and fines can reach €300 per person.
  • Overnight stops are usually allowed at motorway service areas if you keep your awning packed away.
  • The Daktylios ring in central Athens restricts older high-emission vehicles on weekdays. Euro 5 and newer diesel vehicles may enter without a permit.
  • LPG fuel is common on the mainland along Attiki Odos and Egnatia Odos but rare on smaller islands. Plan to refuel before boarding a ferry.
  • Blue zone street parking in cities requires a scratch card or the MyAthensPass app. Maximum stay is three hours.
  • Ferries from Piraeus, Patras and Igoumenitsa accept motorhomes. Book summer ferry trips well in advance because deck space sells out quickly.
