Attractions around Adelaide

Victoria Square, Central Market

At the exact centre of Adelaide’s core one-mile grid lies Victoria Square, home of many public institutions, as well as the State Survey Mark – the reference point for all landmarks within South Australia.

Adjacent to this recently renovated public plaza, lies the Adelaide Central Market, the oldest fresh produce market in Australia (established in 1869) and the largest undercover market in the Southern Hemisphere.

Campervan access: Parking in the city can be tricky for larger motorhomes. While over 1,000 undercover parking spaces are available within the market’s UPark, as well as nearby throughout the CBD, undercover parkings have generally a clearance of 2.00m.

North Terrace Cultural Precinct

In Colonel William Light’s 1836 Plan of the City of Adelaide, North Terrace formed the northern boundary of ‘South Adelaide’; today, North Terrace is one of four terraces that bound the CBD and anchors a collection of institutions, that comprise a rich cultural precinct.

North Terrace is home to the Holy Trinity Church, the Adelaide Railway Station, Old Parliament, present-day Parliament, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the State Library, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the Southern Australian Museum, Government House, various war memorials, and the Ayers House mansion.

Campervan access: Several car parks are available in the vicinity.

Cleland Wildlife Park

Twenty minutes outside the CBD, Cleland Wildlife Park within the Cleland Conservation Park is an oasis of natural bushland in the Adelaide Hills.

The park promotes experiences to cuddle koalas, feed kangaroos, and interact with 130 species, many of which are free-roaming. Nearby, are Mt Lofty and Waterfall Gully, both of which are convenient and rewarding getaways from the city into nature.

Campervan access: Cleland boasts ample, free parking on their premises.
